Walking Alone Through Rain

Blackened rain sinks slowly to my feet
Swift and flowing down streams past sight.

Cars drive past the darkening din, dashing away the sound
And I, mindlessly resonating tangled words-"Promises to keep"

Between the wind and silent rill,
With passive steps and withering light,
The words slip slowly, and into night.
