Good-bye sweet time

Discuss this poem

The setting sun bleeds as it parts from the sky
It's image engraved within my mind
All nature is silenced, observing with awe
The child unravels, she stumbles and falls
It signals those moments most precious in time
A strange beauty accompanies this insensitive crime
A thousand lights flicker when nightfall descends
From a distance deceiving like flames in the wind
The sounds of the dark a different delight
My senses are heightened, I take in the night

Deception's Sweet Tide

Discuss this poem

Everything changed over coffee that night
The world that I lived in now filled with delight
A long summer walk, a chill in the air
As we walked through the night, we had not a care
I knew as you left me that something had changed
I knew right away that I had you to blame

A smile on my lips as I fell asleep
The truth that was hidden began it's slow creep
Into lies you had woven, tangled like webs
Your deception surrounds me alone in the bed

I shut my eyes tightly to hide from the truth
It was there all along, like forbidden fruit
As I wanted so badly for you to be real
Reservations forgotten, I let myself feel
One look in your eyes made me helpless to see
I followed you blindly, letting you take the lead

A smile on my lips as I fell asleep
The truth that was hidden began it's slow creep
Into lies you had woven tangled like webs
Your deception surrounds me alone in the bed

I know to keep moving one step at a time
But each step is weighted because of your crime
These are the words I tell others in need
I must do the same and not give into greed
For I know not to wallow in my own selfish pride
and fall prey to drowning in deceptions sweet tide
